In reply to <a href="https://geothunder.com/hydraulic-fracturing-and-americas-future/#comment-297">Ben</a>.

Thanks for taking a look at it. I am too backed up right now to read it in depth (taxes, payroll, and other necessary nonsense).

I do follow the energy markets closely and believe we really have a bright future as far as natural gas / non-conventional oil is concerned. GTL, HTL, and maybe even CTL technologies have advanced enormously over the past decade.

Problem is Luddites like Mr. Fox scare the crap out of people. Responding to them is a full time and often very difficult job. Especially when it involves expertise in geology, engineering, etc. that the general public does not have.

Thanks for posting the link.
No I hadn't seen it, but I have now read about 70% of it. Even his rebuttal is mostly nonsense. I may eventually do a rebuttal rebuttal :) but it will take a lot of my time since I'm going to have to find scientific papers and laws to backup nearly everything I say. I've been following the industry response closely, and I don't think they are going to have a hard time overcoming the negative publicity... When gas prices get to $6 a gallon people aren't going to care where their energy comes from. (Maybe by next year depending on the economies growth rate and OPEC)

As long as the federal government doesn't push any ridiculous blanket laws regarding fracking all will be well. Industry is starting to utilize more environmentally friendly fracking fluids even though the fracking fluid isn't really a problem.

Microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracturing is going to help prove or disprove if there are any serious problems with fracking.

I am a little concerned that Josh plans to release another "documentary" and I expect his working budget is going to be significantly larger for this one. It will be interesting to see how much support he can rally if energy prices spike.

As much as it would be nice to see alternative fuels go into use it just isn't going to happen in the near future.

We need to diversify our energy production and consumption. How is that going to happen? All energy sources need to be about the same price to see development. Otherwise people just use the cheapest one. Fox's goal is to level the playing field and make that happen. I suppose I can't fault him for that, but the way he his going about it is low to say the least.

Natural gas is basically the only safety blanket our country has unless a bunch of laws regarding nuclear energy are changed.
